I don't think the API is fully up and running yet. Bear in mind that kbin is extremely new software - the first alpha version was put online only a month ago, and nobody expected thousands or even millions of ex-redditors to suddenly be trying to use it so quickly.
Understandably, the dev's current focus is simply on keeping the platform up & running while it is effectively subject to the biggest Reddit hug of death ever. I'm sure once things start to die down (hopefully within a few days) they'll be able to pay more attention to feature development.
