John Barnett had been giving a formal legal deposition against the plane manufacturer before his sudden death.

95% chance his checkout was orchestrated by Boeing.

Given the circumstances, the timing of him having to answer questions related to the deposition the next day and him having plans of what he wanted to do after depositions (people that commit premeditated suicide, which is what cops are going by since allegedly he left a suicide note, don't make plans for the future since they know they won't be alive to do them), yeah it's more than suspicious. He also warned his family friend that if he died, don't believe it was suicide.

Even if he did it himself, he was coerced. Probably.

RIP brave soul

To be clear, he was warning about safety beaches before his demise. These depositions were not coming from beyond the grave.

"Prosecution calls; the ghost of John Barnett, to the stand"

[–] BrikoX@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Completely off-topic, but US had a case where the ghost was a witness in their own murder. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenbrier_Ghost

That is completely fucking bonkers, even for the US, even for the time. Love it.

It isn't quite as blitheringly insane as it sounds though, what with the whole broken neck thing.

That's an interesting story, but the ghost was not a witness.

The mother of the murdered woman claims she saw her ghost and told her that the husband did it. The prosecution didn't even bring up the ghost during the trial, it was the defense, who was trying to discredit the mother as a witness.

My mistake.
