Here's a list of tons of leftist movies.
I honestly resent that I know who Kevin Feige is
Given how over saturated these fucking movies are, I can't imagine that anyone's excited about whatever Z-tier superhero they're pulling from the archives by now.
I'm all for letting people enjoy things, but who the fuck is enjoying this???
The superheroes are whatever. If you can make an interesting story from a guy running around in tights I don’t really care. It’s primarily the “this movie will have jokes about Fiege” announcement that annoys me lol
Too busy announcing jokes than making them lol
They included one in the trailer. It's "feige won't let us do cocaine on screen".
Feige let Thor: Love and Thunder be made, so that is a lie!
Yeah I think the problem is less with the movies (thought they have problems to be sure) as it is the bottom feeding mediasphere and fandom surrounding them.
Considering Marvel shit has been doing progressively worse and worse box office wise, it would seem no, outside of a few mega fans most people are kinda over it.
I'll actually admit I sorta liked some of the early Marvel EU slop, Avengers was a fun enough action popcorn muncher. But they've milked that poor cow into a withered husk. I ended up watching one of the newer movies on a train ride once and I had no fucking idea what was going on.
I came up at rhe perfect age for them since the first Iron Man movie came out when i was in middle school. It was cool seeing a studio build off of that and create a whole universe with intentional tie-ins, teasers, and references since it had never been done before. The allure really started to diminsh after Ragnarok, but it was good enough that i felt compelled to watch it through the end. I have had zero interest in any of the movies after End Game since that's what it was all building up to.
The actual core group of characters (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, ect ect) are fun enough characters and the actors they got to play them have good chemistry. I think that's why it worked. Think is you got two problems, 1) actors age, die, get tired of playing the same role, 2) if you keep expanding the cast you're gonna end up with characters and actors that don't play as well off each other.
You also have Disney thinking they can make Avengers money in perpetuity and oversaturating it even further. I actually think that the MCU could still have legs if they didn't release so much and make them all CGI-filled fights in apocalyptic sets.
Especially because superhero comics aren't all big massive crossovers in destroyed cities, there are plenty of more grounded stories that explore the characters.
They also have way too many tie ins, where you need to have seen everything in order to understand what is happening. I'm not watching 3 seasons of shitty tv shows so i can follow the plot of a shitty movie.
Also because all the TV-shows sucked ass and refused to make any real plot-progress for the overarching story, while still somehow making you confused if you missed them.
Spider-man Homecoming showed them a potential alternate path that they completely chickened out on. These movies don't have to end in giant citywide battles and/or have the literal fate of the multiverse at stake. That movie is mainly a coming of age highschool story and the big climax is literally just him stopping a heist. After Endgame Phase 4 could have been a reset back to a certain relative peace. Would have been interesting to see the whole universe, earth included, kinda chill for a bit after everything that happened. OBV there'd be a big bad threat again eventually...but we could have gotten some lower stakes palette cleansers introducing us to the new guys and letting the old guard kinda relax and start transitioning into more advisory roles.
Instead we got Eternals.
Or even the first Deadpool movie. It was not some apocalyptic threat. It was just Deadpool after some guy he had a grudge on.
Great, exactly what Marvel movies need
More pointless cameos from C-listers like Dazzler
If Marvel wants my money, they're going to have to try harder
I'm talking Z-listers
I wanna see D-Man or Stingray, maybe even Thunderstrike or Adam X the Extreme
This is Paste Pot Pete erasure and I will not stand for it
He goes by The Trapster now
But yes
Doop movie when??
Just have him show up
No references to X-Statix or anything
Just everyone acting like Doop was always there
Because he was
I'll never pay for another marvel slop unless it has Big Wheel in it
Just like I'll never pay to see another DC movie unless it has Space Cabbie in it
This is just them desperately trying to keep the 2010’s spark alive. That train isn’t coming back after Endgame and the recent crop of heroes aren’t interesting enough to keep people engaged.
What is annoying is how the Marvel effect is everywhere and every script sounds like Joss Whedon wrote it.
They killed the golden goose. If they had waited 10-20 years, it would've given people time to reflect and move on, then welcome it anew. Like how Star Wars has huge gaps between main trilogies, or James Bond, etc.
People would have been thrilled to go and revisit and older Tony Stark 20 years later working with some new kids or . The series would have had time to recalibrate its style to fit new trends, insted of being emblematic of dying ones.
They might have been OK if they'd even just have dialed the pace down. I think a lot of people enjoyed the shared universe and worldbuilding when it meant watching one or maybe two movies every year. It was a manageable amount of content, and meant that every new release could actually build some anticipation. After Endgame they really kicked the thing into overdrive, and completely destroyed the market through oversaturation. One or two movies a year? Fine. Five movies and seven low-quality TV shows on your shitty subscription service? Pass.
Plus, since they've constructed the whole thing to be a big interlocking story (which, again, was fine when it was only a movie or two a year), if you don't watch all of it, you pretty much can't watch any of it. I followed most of the films up until Endgame, but haven't seen any of them since because I know they'd be incomprehensible without having watched Shin Shitto: Interdimensional Esquire on Disney Plus.
"How can I miss you if you won't go away?"
What is annoying is how the Marvel effect is everywhere
...It's behind me, isn't it?
😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀
Modern movies are assets and a cameo is another entry on the balance sheet.
I think I would have enjoyed the MCU if I had somehow been perpetually 13 for it's entire existence
I can comprehend about a quarter of this text.
if you've ever watched a marvel movie i'm better than you
Death to America
hey marvel, how is sabra going in your new movie?
The most significant thing I know about Dazzler is the biggest x-men fan I ever watched constantly making fun of the comics for making a big deal out of Dazzler showing up as a reveal of someone important who knew Cyclopes inside and out. Literally the exact kind of easter egg or reveal BS the MCU is entirely obsessed with.
as someone who doesnt watch marvel movies i didnt understand any of this and i refuse to be educated
Let people enjoy things? Let ME enjoy things (hating on loser disney adult nerds)
I looked up Dazzler and she's a roller-disco queen who can convert sound waves into light beams, which is extremely my shit. Though I wouldn't trust the MCU to do anything interesting with such a cool sounding character.
btw this is not an announcement but a rumor, you cut off the part of the sentence that says it's a rumor
She used to appear on back issues of Dr. Strange I think. An interesting character in Marvel history.
apparently she was supposed to be a black woman? which obviously makes sense for a disco queen, but they made her a blonde white lady because racism. and now people think it's gonna be Taylor Swift? ugh I hope not, if there was ever a perfect opportunity for race-swapping a character it's this one
Who or what the hell is Feige and why should I be excited over the jokes?
He's the quip man that destroyed movie dialogue for 80% of films
I thought that was Joss Whedon
I mean he's been fucking things up for like 30 years, I think fiege is specifically the quip master right? I might be confusing them
Fiege is not a writer, he produces all this shit
I would hesitate to call anyone I involved with marvel slop a 'writer'
Isn't that what producers do? Sit in meetings, wander around, and suggest bad reshoots?
See I don't really agree with that, it was anj evolution Linkara went through with his theme that made me rethink that critique. His line "liefeeld, you're not an artist" he changed because on reflection he IS an artist, just a bad one. After encountering Greg Land and Larroca who blatantly trace everything we now have people who really are not artists.
Marvel writing is often cheap and bad for the past like 15 films, but mostly they are writing. You could argue they are just slotting things in and deciding by committee, but we did just see Disney attempting to get the right to use AI to write for films. The distinction between the insult and a literal interpretation is scarily becoming smaller.
But to answer your question, he organized all of this. The getting people on board, deciding what could and could not happen, what needed set up for someone else's project, etc. Honestly complicated logistical shit given it is Hollywood and you are dealing with other studios when it comes to characters like spidey.
It doesn't make him a storyteller though, which is why I am dreading his star wars project
