its weird... when i was younger i used to mix up leslie nielson and liam neeson, and now they're doing a reboot with him? it's just like... did whoever was pitching this movie forget the dude was deceased, accidentally fuck up their names and they're just like going along with it?

The one where he's the president in air force one is really funny. I was rooting for the villain.

Take that back.

Not really tho. Didn’t he do a racism?

Didn't he do a racism?

He wanted to, but couldn't find someone to do it too.

I feel like being honest about your past thoughts and deficiencies is better than acting like an MSNBC reporter claiming that they’ve never done anything wrong ever in their lives.

It’s a step in the right direction for sure, no one is perfect. Most of us were probably raised by someone with bigoted views and likely held similar beliefs until having our own life experiences.

Oh shit... I know you're not a USAian but if you look up famous US comedians from like... the 60's/70's that had a movie career like Richard Pryor and then go find a bunch of the movies they starred in... holy fuck are they bizarre and bad.

I wonder if its the same in other Western countries? Were there comedians that were so popular they starred in a ton of movies just trying to make a buck of the fact that "famous comedian" was in the movie?

Liam Neeson not Leslie Neilson lmao

RIP first episode of star war

[–] the_post_of_tom_joad@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Have you heard of the "alternate" way to watch the start wars series? It involves the first ~~6~~ 5 movies in order to tell anakins story instead of luke's. I tried it and thought it was a pretty good way of viewing, maybe Youve heard of it? If not, ill elaborate. (For clarity we will label the movies in the story's chronological order, episode 1-3 is the new trilogy, 4-6 is OG trilogy)

First, watch episode 4 and 5, with vaders reveal. Then, watch episode 2 and 3, which function as flashbacks to adolescent Anakin and the story of his fall (ep1 is skipped in this viewing).

Finally, come back to episode 6 for his redemption.

I thought it was cool anyway, and this viewing method makes it easier for me, a crotchety OG only type, to enjoy the prequels a bit

[–] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

That's interesting, not sure I'll do it (big time commitment), unless I cut out all of the non-vader scenes in the OG. The last time I watched the prequels was to get references for star wars droids to maybe 3D print my own star wars character.

Wait up, are you actually throwing shade on Krull? Not cool.

"The Grey" has something to say to this. It is a fantastic movie and i will both fight you and/or die on this hill

[–] Edamamebean@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The Grey is dogshit. Its depiction of wolf behaviour is absolutely comical. I will not stand for any media that portrays these majestic creatures as mindless killers who relentlessly hunt humans down without exception just cause they're "apex predators" or some dumb shit.

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

fortunately, it's not a documentary about wolves. it is an allegorical story about heroic efforts to survive and find meaning against an inevitable and even welcomed end, and it is an overlooked film due to a mismatch between its tone and its marketing. and also literalism.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

Ah, i see what youre saying, but check this out:

what if...

spoilerhe's dead? I don't think it's supposed to be literal, i either think they all died in the crash, or they too are some metaphor for liams struggle to want to live, his connections to the world. Maybe liam is in purgatory from the very beginning. I see it as a personal flight he is having, a bit like "Jacobs Ladder". The book the screenplay was based on is called "Ghost Walker"

Was Schindler's List canceled?
