Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

So has the US just declared all out war against college students?

We're reaching the "Kent State" inflection point of this recycled timeline. One I think the state is better equipped to handle this time around.

They don't have to be very much better equipped - from the Wikipedia article on the Kent State "Shootings":

Nixon's press secretary, Ron Ziegler, whose statements were carefully programmed, referred to the deaths as a reminder that 'when dissent turns to violence, it invites tragedy.'"

challenge anyone to convince me the Biden administration wouldn't say the same thing

After the student protests, Nixon asked H. R. Haldeman to consider the Huston Plan, which would have used illegal procedures to gather information on the leaders of the anti-war movement. Only the resistance of J. Edgar Hoover stopped the plan.

luckily for Genocide Joe, his head of FBI will have no qualms

A Gallup Poll taken the day after the shootings reportedly showed that 58 percent of respondents blamed the students, 11 percent blamed the National Guard, and 31 percent expressed no opinion.

wonder what the poll numbers are on the current protests and strongly doubt they're more favorable today

The term "massacre" was applied to the shootings by some individuals and media sources, as it had been used for the Boston Massacre of 1770, in which five were killed and several more wounded.

this is why I put "shootings" in quotes - that's how the article titles itself, but here in Ohio, I've only ever heard this referred to as a massacre

Yeah I'll eat my hat on that comment. I always assumed the shootings had a greater impact on the populous then it seems to be. I guess that's the impression Ohio by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young gave me growing up.

I assume any event like Kent State today will hardly be covered at all, which is mostly what I mean by "better equipped". Better equipped to minimize the reporting, use the deaths against the movement, and dig the bootheel in even deeper.

Oh I'm sorry if it came across like I was arguing with your point! I was not.

I was trying to agree and say that they did a "great" job last time of having everyone on their side, and I don't doubt for a second that they'll do an even "better" job this time.

Better equipped to minimize the reporting, use the deaths against the movement, and dig the bootheel in even deeper.

couldn't agree more

Chuds have been softening the public up for decades about hating college students, seems like the time is nigh to reap that harvest
