She actually unironically tweeted this out?

"Trump will add over 4 billion tons of CO2 to the environment", I absolutely believe he will but we're glossing over Joe adding over 3 billion? On the same chart? With the desired target CLEARLY well below that? Peak comedy.

I thought liberals were talking about 'believing science' which in this case means meeting or besting that target. I guess it's amusing they're just being this open about it being a pissing match over who sucks less

agony-immense

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 58 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Admitting out loud that the blue team is only marginally better than the red team, who are both significantly worse than the bare fucking minimum we need to have a functioning society.

[–] BynarsAreOk@hexbear.net 43 points 1 year ago

The actual peak comedy is the uncertainty areas barely intersect at the very end meaning a real possibility of literally no difference between them in the medium-long term.

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago

Hey quick question for liberals were currently drilling for more oil than any person at any time at any point in history.

Would "more then ever anywhere" be "more" or "less" than the person before you.

How do I vote for target?

Edit: TARGET IS THE LINE THAT BIDEN PROMISED LAST ELECTION AHHHH i-voted

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 36 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Listen sweaty don't let perfect be the enemy of good

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 20 points 1 year ago

At this point it's more "don't let bad be the enemy of certain death"

[–] Chump@hexbear.net 61 points 1 year ago (1 children)

lol she turned off replies

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 52 points 1 year ago (2 children)

She's literally sabotaging bidens campaign so she isn't famous for being "the only person who could lose an election to trump"

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 22 points 1 year ago

She absolutely strikes me as narcissistic and spiteful enough to do something like that lmao

Biden has approved more oil and gas drilling than Trump did, he’s literally been worse, what the fuck is that calculation based on

[–] culpritus@hexbear.net 49 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I guess this is based on Biden crashing the economies of the western developed world? That's the only way this makes any sense.

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 45 points 1 year ago

That’s right, Biden is drilling at all time record levels despite his promises to actually stop drilling on federal lands.

This is just outright fabrication by Hillary, but uh, happy earth day I guess?

[–] erik@hexbear.net 60 points 1 year ago

Thinking back on this Ezra Klein article and smiling serenely.

[–] Beaver@hexbear.net 53 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Vote for the-democrat, he'll pull the knife out 6 inches

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 44 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I know you're quoting Malcolm X, but just gotta say that in this case it's more like "he'll only shove it in 6 more inches"

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 38 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He's successfully slowed down the acceleration of the knife into your back

[–] bleepbloopbop@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

honestly yes this is a great analogy for how dems say everything is great actually and then cite some secondary metric that doesn't correlate to the conditions for everyday people

This is the climate equivalent of that unironic trolley meme the libs have been spreading where Team Blue means “only” the Palestinians getting genocided compared to a bunch of hypothetical Team Red genocides.

[–] Ericthescruffy@hexbear.net 29 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Jesus christ is that actually a thing in the fucking wild? I haven't seen it. Please tell me the top comment every single time its posted is "I choose to blow up the trolley".

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 22 points 1 year ago

Sadly Hexbear comments threatening the trolley are third and fifth, further proof we are libs.

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 45 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

This is literally "would you rather be shot or stabbed to death"

She can't actually be this bad at politics right this is just Andy Kauffman in a wig.

The last two times she's been in the news has been telling potential voters "fuck you, and if you don't vote for biden fuck you slightly more" and "Here's a graph showing there's no difference between the two candidates"

Like she's just actively sabotaging Biden so she isn't known as "the only person the manage to lose an election to trump" in history books

[–] mar_k@hexbear.net 42 points 1 year ago
[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 37 points 1 year ago

How many tonnes of CO2 does providing and dropping bombs on Palestine produce?

[–] SSJ2Marx@hexbear.net 34 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The Biden trend line from now to 2030 seems to assume that the decline from the last year will continue uninterrupted, while the history shown on the chart shows that to clearly not be how this works at all.

[–] coeliacmccarthy@hexbear.net 30 points 1 year ago

oh the decline will continue uninterrupted all right

[–] dkr567@hexbear.net 31 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's hilarious how that graph is a perfect example of their trash heap of political parties' stance on almost everything but wE have to VoTe BluE amirite?

[–] coeliacmccarthy@hexbear.net 30 points 1 year ago

don't let the perfect be the enemy of the grotesquely pathetically insufficient

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 31 points 1 year ago

Lmao did she actually post this? How embarrassing...

[–] puff@hexbear.net 29 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

So by 2050 the confidence intervals will essentially overlap and the difference will not be statistically significant. Ok.

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

In the short term they're the same. In the long term theyre also the same. But in the medium term!

[–] RION@hexbear.net 28 points 1 year ago

He's running

[–] 420blazeit69@hexbear.net 25 points 1 year ago

Looking at the 2020-2024 data, it's a big jump up then a small decline to a level still above 2020.

Even accounting for covid fuckery, the bottom line is Biden has not done nearly enough, so the projection for him to start doing far, far more (but still not enough!) is pure fantasy.

[–] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago (2 children)

What the fuck is Biden going to do in 2030!? That's a very sharp turn in the curve two years after he has left office!

[–] coeliacmccarthy@hexbear.net 29 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What the fuck is Biden going to do in 2030!?

continue being dead

[–] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I mean, yes, but why will that halt the reduction of US emission? Why did they put that sharp turn into the graph!?

[–] coeliacmccarthy@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

because that's when we'll start doing stuff we promise, just a few more votes

Both parties will bring us to barbarism except the Dems will take the scenic route and do so a little slower.

This graph is LITERALLY pointing that out but still somehow that's being pitched as a plus 🤦‍♂️

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 21 points 1 year ago

can someone edit this chart to highlight the periods when Clinton and Obama did jack shit to lower carbon emissions?

[–] micnd90@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago

Biden's line is closer to Trump's than the target lmao

joever

[–] Skeleton_Erisma@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Haha even Biden can't make the target

Idk I guess he biden-forgor

[–] bleepbloopbop@hexbear.net 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)
