I'll note that right now, this is a seasonal issue, associated with moderate springtime temperatures when there is a lot of sunshine available.

IDK guys, I feel like the solution is pretty obvious. Just tell the utilities to turn on a crypto or GenAI farm to soak up the excess free power. Voilà, problem solved and Value™ created for shareholders. Win win!

The problem with things like crypto and genAI is that they're capital-intensive, which makes little sense for something that's only available as excess for part of the day on a seasonal basis.

Storage has the same problem, though it does a lot more for people.

I non ironically think that a state that provides zero-cost electricity during its solar spike is going to attract a lot of companies whose productivity rely on cheap electricity, including, yes, AI training centers.

If only we hadn't spent the past four thousand years or so storing electricity chemically and had focused on what to do about sun no shine at night!!!! we could have cheap virtually limitless power available. Oh, well, drill up some more dead dino goo!
