As the title says! My choice, for now, is Leta, directly from Mullvad. I really like because there are no ads by deafult, which is particular important since those ads usually lead to malware.

Otherwise, i like mojeek (same reason).

They both have a strong privacy policy and search results are good enough for me.

I fully switched to DDG last summer and it is totally fine for ~90% of my searches, except its image search is way worse than Google's.

Kagi! Been using it for a year and I'm very happy with it. The lens feature helps me when I want to deep dive on something and the small web option feels sort of sweet to me hahah

I did not know Kagi. Thank you!

Edit: spelling

Gladly paying for Kagi as well.

There was an interesting post on Kagi a few days ago; with an alternative take on how it operates.

searx.neocities.org

It will automatically redirect to a random SearX instance, which is nice because they can keep track of which ones are active so I don’t have to.

Its pretty nice but sometimes it directs to a Thai (or other language) instance and while it doesn't matter for the immediate search results it can be annoying when you wanted to check images for example.

Doesn't mean not to use it but it surprised me a couple times so far.

[–] shasta@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

My guess is those instances are misconfigured, didn't set their language correctly

Kagi. I'm happy with it.

I yell into the void until someone brings me an answer

For anyone wondering about Leta it proxies Google searches. Available only to Mullvad users.

[–] aa1@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hi! Now Leta seems to proxi also Brave searches!

[–] Cheradenine@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Interesting, I was just going off the linked FAQ. I don't use Mullvad so I was curious, thanks

I use SearXNG and Startpage.

[–] aa1@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Startpage is really nice. I use it when sites blocks VPN users like me since i can proxy every page i visit through them!

Qwant but sometimes DuckDuckGo.

[–] vividstructure@thelemmy.club 2 points 1 year ago

I use Duckduckgo

[–] Glass0448@lemmy.today 1 points 1 year ago

Duck Duck Go with a searx fallback

[–] land@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)
