I don't understand: why would you pay for the check mark and than hide it?
Because of people dunking on you with "this mf paid for twitter" memes
I'm also confused, what's the point of a check mark if you hide it? Just paying Twitter for fun?
Now I have an idea: with the check mark come other privileges like pooling, appearing further up in the feed and stuff, I'm not sure exactly. But that might be a reason to pay for and than people feel ashamed and want to hide it.
You could actually tell who a lot of the hidden checks were because they were ranked high up in the replies but had practically no engagement.
I think these were implemented not too long after the introduction of the subscription?

Oh, I wasn't aware of these. Makes a lot of sense people want more eyeballs on their tweets without people knowing they pay for them.
