Do you not think 100mm is a lot of rain?
It's a decent downpour. Especially in an hour or so. Bonus points for being out of nowhere - it wasn't forecast.
But at the same time, I think our infrastructure should absolutely handle that volume of rain. The hyperbole in the article:
"I've been doing this job a long time [and] 100 millimetres in under an hour in the metro metropolitan area is fairly unprecedented."
"It went like it was 7pm. I've been here 10 years and I've never seen anything like it."
It's been removed from the article now because it honestly was too much, but yesterday they had a bloke saying it was like the solar eclipse.
I think the reporting has all been very over the top. This is actually not a major natural disaster, and will be forgotten in a few weeks.
So your saying this isn't the great hail storm 2.0?
I'd better call the printers and change my 'the end is nigh' signs!
100 mm is like a light shower compared to what we get in South-East Queensland (and Northern NSW i guess). The new year's rain we got was like 2-300 mm.
Yeah, but thats totes-obvs because the great sky spirit is angry at you and your username.
Its. just. science.
Maybe the rain doesn't hit WA much because the great sky spirit keeps forgetting it exists
