I'm not mad about police being paid well. They should be, but I think it should be easier than this to lose it if you get convicted of a crime:
Nearly half of all officers suspended and convicted of a crime returned to work. Just under one in 10 were fired.
Every bit of that money should be recuperated from the police pension fund. Instead it comes out of ours, the taxpayers.
Police should be required to hold malpractice insurance, just like every other “profession” that has inherent risk to public safety.
