IME the agile process is a distraction that makes it hard to get any actual work done. Hopefully it will have this same effect on the military.

But the name implies fast!

(Looking forward to a cruise missile going the wrong way and triggering WW3 because of some bug going unnoticed)

Armageddon is an undocumented feature

war-crime stand up where your commanding officer asks you who you killed yesterday and how many you plan to kill today

[–] Melonius@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago

How's our war crime backlog looking?

Most of the US gov shit is developed by contractors and administered by a combo of civilian government employees and contractors. So effectively they were already using all the industry buzzword practices and methods on any given project.

Agile is just a fancy way of saying "we don't plan things very well".

Translation: “Our sub-sub-sub contractors briefed us today and told us some fancy technology words. We will be awarding them an additional $10 million for being productive.”

the military is now practicing anti-imperialism via having neverending meetings

Ah yes, "realease it buggy and unfinished and slowly add features while the bugs fester." Great idea

Live service military software.

Not saying Agile is always bad, but somftware was much better when waterfall was dominant

Most implementations of SCRUM are just waterfall with lipstick.

Prioritized and frequently pruned backlog in an excel spreadsheet is the superior methodology.

I know that agile is a methodology for writing software, and there end my knowledge about it. But the logo with the arrow and the arrow looping back made me think that you keep repeating the same thing and never progress.

yeah, agile's like that. you introduce agile to improve development. everyone is confused, hates it and nothing improves. so you introduce agile again, to improve development. again, everyone is confused, hates it and nothing improves. so you introduce agile again...

basically, according to agile evangelists, agile cannot fail, it can only be failed.

This is a decent guide to different software development methods.

Love to add unnecessary new words and meetings to my waterfall process!

[–] goog@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

That should help fix the issues with the battleship ipad steering :^)

Hot take: For a lot of products and services, Agile is far superior to a lot of other workflows

I think especially with how the US military functions, it probably will work decently
