Okay but why write a whole article when you can just say:

“Our justice system isn’t good at stopping rudimentary crime nor is it in rehabilitating criminals”

Also, western states have "huuuge tracts of land" with few people in them. Kind of hard to prevent vandalism when the nearest cop/person is 30 minutes or 2 hours away, at empty highway speeds.

I've driven across Kansas on a highway (not an interstate), and seen exactly 1 police car. That's 8 hours of driving to see a single Sheriff.

Right but the article was talking about CO which does have police around

While I agree with it being challenging and an especially tough problem for rural areas, it doesn’t change the fact that what’s currently implemented isn’t working sadly.

All these problems and no one's willing to say what the cause is. Drug use, vandalism, living in them, they're all symptoms of the same problem.

Except the tiktok trend one, that's just kids being kids (stupid). However there too with proper funding of social services and free entertainment options, coupled with better paid and therefore less stressed/more available parents, even those stupid trends would happen less.
