Thanks sea. Sorry for not posting the dibs thread, somehow I managed to fall asleep at 8:30, the earliest I've slept in quite a while for not much apparent reason ๐Ÿ™„

I feel like I've been a bit lazy today, slow to start work, on some phone calls and taking extended eating breaks through the day.

I definately didn't get as much done as I thought I would today.

Anyway bring on the weekend!

Needed a change of scenery with doing work (going a bit troppo doing WFH all the time) so brought my laptop to a local cafe. This cafe is more coffee and small eats rather than full-on brunch, so thought it would be fine. Half the tables in here aren't taken.

It's interesting how working / studying from cafes in Australia isn't really a thing. I get why (table turnover). I remember when I was in the US it was very common to walk into a cafe and see a lot of people with laptops. Didn't seem to be an issue in Japan either.

There's an ebike expo on this weekend at the Brunswick Velodrome. I've seen internet in ebikes in these threads so I thought I'd share:

Are sonic weapons illegal here? Trying to figure out if it's worth complaining to the council about a mosquito-like device. My ears feel like they are gonna bleed after walking near it, I can't imagine what children and other animals go through when being near it :(

Apologies in advance to all animal lovers.

I had a fur lined coat back home and I miss it. So warm, soft and cosy.

Okay back to your scheduled Fridays.

There's a game happening I'm unaware of.

The cat sits in a spot most likely to get kicked, and I avoid kicking her.

The game continues...

Apropos of nothing: I like watching YT horror shorts, good and bad. Seeing what film students and enthusiasts create is rewarding to me.

I watched a bunch of them yesterday, new ones and ones I've seen already. However, I watched a 30min one I hadn't seen or heard of (somehow), called "The Strange Thing About the Johnsons".

Now this is on me, I should have checked who made it and maybe read the comments beforehand - but I went in blind.

spoilers and content warningAri Aster (Hereditary and Midsommar) made it when he was in AFI film school...

10/10 will never watch again. If you do want to go ahead and watch it, here are my TW: SA, rape, abuse. It's not shown explicitly, but the whole fucking thing is just acted to perfection, the directing, the cinematography, it's an exceptional piece of art, and touches on subjects that should be discussed more. Apparently, this short was what got him attention and he went on to do the other, more well known, films.

But seriously, I cannot stop thinking about it, because it was so well done, so beautifully and realistically acted, that I feel sick and will never watch it again.

Another short I love is The Other Side of the Box - I think it's 15 minutes and I 100% reccomend it to anyone who is interested in horror. It's just such a perfect little film.

These are my favourite type of horror and also looking forward to Zone of Interest, will start streaming next week (or now if you have VPN)

Bandcamp Fridays always creep up on me and I don't know who to support.

Maybe I'd use bandcamp more if it didn't suck to use so much. Then I'd have a ready mental list of albums to buy
