There's a massive pilot shortage right now. Even if they had a lack of money such that paying the pilots would be difficult, which isn't the case, it'd be worthwhile bending over backwards to try to keep their pilots happy, since they can easily find work elsewhere any time they feel like it.

I believe they could just file for unemployment during that missed time.
