Anti union people who are employed in the same industry as me are often floored at how much more I make. I rarely get the “unions are bullshit” argument from them.

This is a topic I try to inform Americans about whenever I get a chance. You have zero clue what worker rights are because you've never had them.

I use the example of the 8 hour workday and 40 hour full time work week that is considered a standard for full time employment in developed nations across the globe, these standards were first fought for in bloody union conflicts in Australia that cost lives for us to wrest these rights from capitalist exploitation.

If you ever want to know what you could have I suggest you look at what other cou tries have already fought, bled, and died for. Here's what a real Government provided workers rights platform looks like, look up what more you could have if you fought for it. Sorry in advance if it gives you depression.

Unfortunately I'm a gig worker, so I don't think there's much of a union option over here. I'd love to see the Teamsters or another major union create a gig workers guild (sorry, professional organization). I know I certainly won't cross one of that union's picket lines if'n they're helping me like that.
