The worst part would be THINKING you're done and NOT hearing the chime.

"Oh, goddamn it!"

That’s when you’d hear the time running out sound. Cue even more anxiety.

Or the sonic drowning music. https://youtu.be/9Yw5jkAHgME

Oh no, that would be the worst!

If Mario sound effects were in real life I'd be hearing that "wahhhh" sound all day

Play it for yourself when you feel accomplished. Be the dog clicker you need!

You could very likely do that with one of those productivity app like Notion

The chore app "sweepy" plays a very dopaminey sound effect when you do a chore. Unfortunately, that still wasn't enough to make me keep up with using it.

I've thought about using productivity apps, but I feel like that's exactly the problem I would run into: not using it long-term because ADHD.

This is why I like TickTick! I have been known to undo completing a task and turning the sound back on, to complete it again when my phone was on silent, just to hear the ping.

I'm gonna try it. Knowing myself, I probably won't stick with it, but I can at least try!

It's a square wave with some amplitude shift keying. An NES could play it, so can an Arduino with a little amplifier and speaker. Sounds like a fun project! Every 100ᵗʰ press of the button could play the 1-up sound instead.
