"thwayt" is an unusual spelling, but Postlethwaite is certainly a real name - Pete Postlethwaite was in The Usual Suspects

I used to know a Dr Thistlethwaite, so Postlethwayt/-thwaite doesn't seem strange to me.

Not enough consonants to be welsh, "thwaite" is a distinctly northern english word descended from the old norse for meadow.
