I used to know a Dr Thistlethwaite, so Postlethwayt/-thwaite doesn't seem strange to me.
Pete Postlethwayt was a great actor from Liverpool
It sounds more Welsh than Liverpoolian....
Not enough consonants to be welsh, "thwaite" is a distinctly northern english word descended from the old norse for meadow.

Yeah, Pete Postlewait is an awesome character actor with a lot of range and credits in a lot of brilliant movies.
