Further speculation and erstwhile hope: might a time displaced Trip possibly appear?

edit: so, upon getting home, there is now an update to at least part of the film's content taking place during the "Lost Era"

From Memory Alpha: The "Lost Era" concept was developed by Pocket editor Marco Palmieri, who defined it as the period of history between the apparent death of James T. Kirk aboard the Enterprise-B in 2293 and the launch of the Enterprise-D in 2363 .

So now if nothing else, we have the inclusion of a younger Captain Rachel Garrett of "Yesterday's Enterprise" fame.

Personally, I’d have liked it it be a section 31 Time Travel reunion, and had Malcolm Reed, Trip Tucker, Georgiou, Ash Tyler, Julian Bashir and clone Boimler, but a) we’d have heard about that by now and b) I admit it might be a bit fan-wankery to support a standalone film.

Not necessarily. We don't know that Garrett was the first captain of the C.

It was recently confirmed her character would appear.

hol up... Rachel Garrett... as in the Captain of the Enterprise-C?

oooo....

Right, but will she start out as captain or will this be her journey there?

Either way, it's cool her character will have more to do than get killed and later see a statue of her get destroyed.

Definitely. Although I'm not happy about Georgiou in it. Nothing against Michelle Yeoh, but I think we've had enough of her. I can't accept her as any sort of hero or even anti-hero when she committed genocide.
