Ukraine did not receive calls from the United States to cease attacks on Russian oil refineries, according to the advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak. Earlier, the media reported on Washington's alleged request to Kyiv.

He denied the reports that the United States supposedly demanded from the Ukrainian side to refrain from striking Russian oil infrastructure, calling them "fake information."

Yeah, that kinda reeked of misinformation to me. The US is largely energy independent these days, we're a net exporter, not an importer.

Doesn't matter if you're energy independent, it's about gas prices at the pump. A hike in barrel price globally will affect domestic pricing. Why would exxon sell you gas for 3 bucks a gallon when it can sell it to someone in China for 4 bucks? Doesn't matter where the gas comes from, prices are more or less global.

We're a net exporter specifically of certain oil grades that are useful for refinining... We still consume close to 20mbd of liquid fuel while producing 13.

Source?

Because, we're exporting more refined products than we import too, so we'd sure be running out real fast at that rate.
