Didn't it come out recently also that the CIA was sometimes writing whole articles for mass newspapers and letting them publish it under one of their writers' name?
I don't remember reading that, but it's common knowledge that at least NYT and WaPo let the State Department edit their articles. WaPo is owned by a Defense and Intelligence contractor. The Guardian has been taken over by GCHQ. So I wouldn't be surprised if the CIA is ghostwriting articles.
