General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

When the Tories inexplicably win the next election it will be because of the untold amounts of foot shooting like this.

starmer is really doing everything he can to make me question why i should vote labour

I'm no political analyst, but I imagine everything he does is to try and win back votes from the Tories

[–] JoBo@feddit.uk 2 points 1 year ago

Which won't happen. The Lib Dems will get the disgruntled Tory vote, as per always. All he's doing is depressing turnout.

A pineapple could beat the Tories at the next election but he is desperately trying to follow the Dems and gift it to proto-fascists.

Ah yes, Corbyn, the man who sat back and lost his second election, consequently letting Brexit happen... what a great politician

[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 3 points 1 year ago

What are you talking about?! He has his own song!

'How dare he not be in office!' is always a fucking stupid sentiment.

Stop blaming the people you kinda like for the actions of unrelated bastards.

He should have united with the lib dems to advocate a second ref. But sat back and didn't. If he cannot beat Boris at an election then why would he be a decent PM?

Boris had a party breaking election campaign spending laws employing Cambridge Analytica to do last minute targeted Facebook ads.

Corbyn literally had no stance on Brexit.

[–] kralk@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So having no stance on Brexit is worse than literal crimes?

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 1 points 1 year ago

It is when you lose an election and allow the would-be criminals to muck up the country

Are you importing our shitty American propaganda now? 'She lost to someone actively evil, so she must be worse.'

Arsonists get into power and you blame the fires on the firefighters.

He obviously was worse if he lost. That's how elections work.

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Then Brexit was the right answer. Yeah? More votes equals better choice.

No worse option has ever won an election. Apparently.
