Accusations against the Red Army were always projection based on how the Wehrmacht conducted itself in Eastern Europe. Reactionaries really only have one moral playbook, which is accusing everyone else of doing the things that they're already doing.

I think the army is lacking leadership, so probably a good solution would be to make everyone a general, including the brand new recruits who are now only humble, lowly, platoon commanders

I'd easily believe it. My understanding is that it follows from long periods of grinding occupation, where the subject population is dehumanized and resented by the occupiers. And during slow periods more than during actual combat. It just obviously fits the historical pattern in a way that the Oct 7 accusations didn't.

The army is acting with total impunity. Israel needs the soldiers to commit atrocities to achieve its political goals (the ethnic cleansing of Gaza), but to do that they need to assure their soldiers that there will be no consequences. So no matter what the soldiers do, their spokespeople will go on TV and say with a 100% straight face that they have done no wrong. There must never be a precedent for accountability.
But because there is total impunity, the army is getting increasingly unhinged and they do absurd shit like looting underwear and posting it to tiktok. I think even an otherwise normal person can turn into a monster if they know there will be no consequences whatsoever for their actions. 19-year-old Israeli Lieutenant Commanders are being given an endless supply of weapons and a free pass to live out their most depraved violent fantasies on a civilian population, because Israel has to defend them if questioned or the entire house of cards will fall apart.
It's fascism in its purest form. Powerful institutions protecting supremacy of the oppressors.
