I only know of these from Gordon Ramsay shows and he calls it "gooey duck"

Yep. Theres a good number of these things in the PNW, and they are pronounced as you say, Gooey Duck.

Its always hilarious listening to anyone not from the PNW attempting to pronounce the myriad of towns and lakes and such with names from original inhabitants.

Still baffles me that anyone can pronounce Yakima wrong. But then I heard some Californian say Ya kee muh. shakes head
