Things are getting honestly terrifying, but the people with the power to actually do something won’t.

What do you mean the people with power to do something won’t? Last I heard, the billion class are buying a bunch of fancy refurbished underground ~~r~~decommissioned nuclear silos. They want a safe place to weather the coming societal collapse in comfort. Apparently, these fancy silos come with a huge security force that would never turn on the monied people locked away underground.
