I have a friend who swears by blood donation. He says whenever he donates he feels really good for some weeks. He even got picked for a study where they tried lowering the minimum interval between donations from 3 months to 1 month, and he said it was the best he's felt in his life.

He doesn't suffer from haemochromatosis as far as he knows, but he is the weird anecdote evidence I have that maybe bloodletting does work for some people.
