My grandparents had an even earlier version of a football boardgame that was absolutely wild. I never even learned to play it the proper way, but it was made out of tin and you set up a bunch of paperdoll players with little foot stand things on top of the tin field, and the whole thing just vibrated like crazy and the players went everywhere. Weirdest thing.

Oh, fuck - I remember that too. A friend's friend must have had that. I have a few vague memories of it. Maybe I played it or saw it about three times. I must have said something like "This is really, really weird," at the time.
My favorite uncle had this. I constantly bugged him to play it because I imagined it much cooler than it really was. We finally set it up and it was such a letdown.
Same. On all accounts. I also had a hand me down of one of the quarterback games. And then eventually Tecmobowl. And many more of these types of handhelds because my parents wouldn't buy me a Nintendo so I ended up with handhelds of like double dragon and shit.
I had a ninja turtle version of this, it was the only video game my foster parents would let me play, so I got so damn good at beating it.
Lol I think I had that one.
