I think the key is that it has to be a significant share of the consumer base that's boycotting for it to cause a spook.

Spotify might back down from the hypothetical idea of region locking their palestinian themed albums if threats of a boycott went up high enough, but Kid Rock could not give less of a shit about a "boycott" against him since literally nobody who listens to him is gonna abide it.

That's the case where you need to begin making tactical decisions about who the biggest offenders are, and begin rolling protests where they can't run away to inflict reputational damage.

Precisely. Bit of a goldilocks thing. Too many targets and it’s a meaningless noisy mess, too few and it’s a witch hunt. The BNC has done a fairly good job from what I can tell to identify a small number of institutions which will deliver the maximum impact.
