So tldr, is this Davis guy ultimately a grifter or just a useful fool?
I genuinely feel like this man has convinced himself of the whole "If you just treat racists with kindness, love, and respect instead of beating their shit out, they'll totally love you so much that they'll stop being racist!" even though the comment section on this video is the most Reddit thing I've ever read outside of Reddit. If he is grifting, people are clearly buying into it.
Pretty much the vibe I've always gotten. Naive at best, and it reinforces an incredibly wrong idea. Treating most virulent racists in that manner doesn't make them less racist, it at best makes them think you're 'one of the good ones'.
Don't forget that his take on this is essentially completely rooted in being an anecdote.
To quote George Costanza, "It's not a lie if you believe it."
