Sainz had originally crossed the line in fourth, but the penalty will drop him down to fifth, subsequently promoting Sergio Perez up into P4.

I think it's bullshit because it's not harsh enough. Take someone out of the race or ruin their race to this degree and I think there should be a penalty carried over to the next race, either grid positions or pitlane start. If they change components that also carry those penalties then the penalty carries over to the next event.

Nah, that leads to overly timid racing. Sainz made a mistake, but the move wasnโ€™t inherently aggressive or shitty like KMag against Hamilton in the sprint.

Honestly I wouldnโ€™t have been mad if it came down as a racing incident, but I think because he was driving angry the 5 seconds is justified.
