I am not entirely anti-Dr. Phil, like I've heard some of his advice & it seems sound enough. Practical enough. But especially as his show carried on for years, and ever increasingly the clearly wacko nutjob guests were brought on for shock value (/exploitation)...I was like....are these people really being helped here? Or are we dragging them out of their hole, shining a spotlight on them, for public humiliation & punching down on the dumb & mentally ill? I mean I was a teenager, watching sometimes & thinking...these problems need to be dealt with privately. Behind closed doors. You're robbing human beings of any chance at dignity, respect. That's wrong. I recognized this as a teenager! He's way too old & should know better. Then again, there's no shortage of prominent religious people who can quote the Bible but missed the parts that basically read "Don't be a dick".
I loved this direct confrontation between bumfights creator & Dr. Phil. He got kicked off the show!! Dr. Phil knew he was going to get in trouble & shut him up ASAP.
