I distinctly remember some years ago the very same feral hog boomers very upset that young people didn't care about things outside of their iphone and avocado toast. Now they care about the wrong things and some hot couch guy with a nightstick is coming to cave their head in.

We are on tism forum Care-Comrade informal declaration of Hexbear as a neurodiversity forum.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I wish, but it sometimes feels like even Hexbear treats us roughly.

Well, communist spaces have this problem in general.

Speaking of Hexbear, I once saw someone defend ABA and said that she did this to her own child and that it was necessary. ABA! Fuck that shit.

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I haven't experienced it myself, but my confidence is so busted that tolerating my existence qualifies aa great inclusion. I do think bear website is ahead of other spaces, but what issues do you have with how it is now? Is there anything that could be done immediately to improve it?

bocchi-cry I fear going into an irl space...

Not on here surely? Practicing ABA on your own child should be classed as a crime, fuck.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes, it was on here. In /c/neurodiverse.

I still remember it... Got 3 upvotes last I checked, but that was months ago. Really shook me, admittedly. Maybe they just didn't like me? Idk. I was controversial back then.

But thanks for hearing me out!

Fuck, ABA defenders, on my bear website, no way.

When you don't get votes, when you can't tell what people thought of your thing you said kiryu-pain It be like that sometimes...

Ofc, no prob meow-hug

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I get that. I'll try to find the upvoted comment, if you're curious. Could've gotten more votes by this time...

But yeah, I was a bit upset, though I tried to keep my emotions in check at the time. Maybe I was overreacting? But it stuck with me.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

But thank you. And thanks for the warmth.

I'm not trying to single out Hexbear here, despite my last comment.

Hell, it's better in this regard than most communist spaces, at least at times (just trying to be impartial here).

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yw, of course meow-hug

Yeah I think so too, but if my comrades have concerns I wanna hear em. Just because I'm happy going on autistic screeds all the time, doesn't mean it's great for everyone.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

*Autistic

Let's use the capital A!

Well, that's what I got from a book I read recently.

We're our own culture and neuro-type.

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh is it considered bad form to lowercase it? TIL! Very nice.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, I'm just telling you as a fellow Autistic comrade, that's all!

Don't mean to come off as "asshole-ish."

But I believe that Autistic people are our own culture, just like the LGBTQ+ movement, and we should invoke it, that demarcation, as it also lends some gravitas to the term and what it means.

So, err, yeah, just giving you the heads-up!

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is true and I dig it, I wasn't even aware the capitalisation thing existed, thank you. We are our own culture fidel-salute

Yeah, read:

Unmasking Autism: Discovering the New Faces of Neurodiversity by Devon Price

It talks about this!

The recommendations to read Devon Price are piling up...
