I’m struggling to imagine what would have been worse today if Trump had been president for the last few years. I think pulling out of Afghanistan would have still happened, everything relating to Ukraine and Israel would still be true, Roe would still have been struck down without any meaningful opposition, COVID measures would be more or less the same, etc. Meanwhile, another Trump administration would have likely botched some things to the benefit to the rest of the world. I am unironically of the belief that Trump is the harm-reduction candidate, if only slightly and only because Trump is more likely to cause damage to US hegemony.
