This is my last six string electric guitar. A LP Classic with a 60s style neck in Honeyburst. I bought this around 07/08 and played it almost exclusively for years before going back to Strats. Everything is stock on this except for the jack plate which cracked so I got a metal one.
I've always strung it with Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom strings for heavier tones when I switch to Drop D. Right now it's always tuned to drop D and I've been experimenting a lot with making songs with one guitar and the bass in drop D while the others are in standard. It adds just a slight thickness when you play the lower 3 strings. Plus playing in drop D breaks me out of a creative rut sometimes.
I pretty much only run it through my 1312 drive and delays and might get a wah pedal for TOOL and Boris type tones. The pickups break up real nice if I add just a touch of gain or dig in when I pick. Overall its a nice change of pace from all my Fenders.
The quality in all factories just keep rising. It is awesome what you can get for the price.
My Epiphone is the newer line (Inspired by Gibson) with the redesigned headstock that looks closer to Gibson's. The quality is excellent. The finish is something special, it actually feels like a nitro finish, but it poly.
I am officially done buying guitars, save for a high quality acoustic which I never invested in. I can't predict the future, but I like what I have. Same with amps.
Now I am turning back to a past love, the Clarinet. I adore it, but never got to practice it due to family telling me to quiet down, which sucks. I hope to start a lifelong journey getting intimate with this instrument, and will be saving up for real wood upgrade.
Agreed on the Inspired by Gibson line. My last purchase is an ES335 and it's great. I still want an SG, and maybe a single-cut, either an LP or a PRS 594.
I honestly would be happy having every guitar from the Gibson line as an Epiphone.
