I'm starting to feel like I made my account on the wrong instance if those people are the average
Yeah, I'm sorry to say that's looking more and more like the case. Lemmygrad and Hexbear were the most obvious and have been either defederated or blocked by most, and it seems like the users have made their way to ML.
I was just about to look into what options I had for blocking all users from the ML instance automatically, and I'm sure others are considering the same.
For your edification, the people spouting pro-CCP propaganda like those in this post are called "tankies".
Not sure how it works on the web interface, but in the app I'm using (Thunder), you click on the 3 dots next to the upvote arrow, choose instance and then block instance.
After getting a bigotry removal for even mentioning Tankies exist, I blocked all .ml instances. Dont have time to deal with Tankie snowflakes
ML is a lot better than Hexbear and Lemmygrad. There are certainly some tankies in there such as the user above but if you visit their communities its mostly just lefties.
On one hand, yes.
On the other hand, that's a low bar.
I'd argue the .ml stance on the israeli Genocide on Gaza and non censorship of articles debunking Hasbara was a lot more correct than the .world one especially at the start of the Genocide. Even now only mainstream Western outlets are condoned no matter how well sourced articles are.
If the user above posted the same take on .ml he wouldn't be showered in updoots either. There sure are some outlier users but .ml and Hexbear/Lemmygrad are completely incomparable.

That those comments have half as many downvotes as upvotes doesn't inspire great confidence. My point stands - ML is much better than Hexbear and Lemmygrad - but that's not a high point of comparison.
The comment chain is claiming that Russia would be more trigger happy than israel to start WW3 which is a pretty lib take even I wouldn't agree with. It having downvotes is not strange, though I did not personally downvote them.
But the most important point is that they are not getting censored, banned. Which really dispels the illusion that it's just a giant tankie fest over there.
The reason most people seem to catch bans from .ml is because they go full lib mode when they see something that conflicts with some WMD propaganda they've been consuming for the past 25 years and call anything to the left of them a tankie.
ML is more defined by anti imperialism but doesn't magically condone it when China or Russia do the imperialism as well. You can find some actual tankies in there but they're usually swimming in down votes. The average lib that finds out that America hasn't exactly been the good guys for the past 50+ years just seems to think that everyone criticizing it is a tankie.
Lemmygrad and Hexbear have such an anti West boner that they are often willing to close their eyes and ignore the faults of parties. They are not really comparable.

That's complete bull. Anytime I go over there on a pertinent issue one of the top comments is always some tankie or another getting upvotes because he used the popular buzzword of the day.

The likelihood of Putin actually attacking a NATO country is very small. The only reason he could invade Ukraine is because it was not yet in NATO.
I think Russia has a tendency to pull triggers on bigger guns than Israel does. If Israel starts WW3, it will be by provoking someone into invading them. If Russia starts WW3, it will be BY invading someone.
Yeah, that's what we said about him doing a full-scale invasion of Ukraine as well.
No there were like a gazillion warnings from Putin that he was trying to annex Ukraine. He already annexed Crimea in 2014.

This is a really weird point in time to claim Russia is more likely to start WW3.
Russian imperialism actually requires them to think whether they can steal certain land instead of getting bombed to rubble. Sure they have a big army but they absolutely cannot handle a war with NATO. Invading Ukraine would be nothing like invading NATO. Which is why we did the Cold War thing before.
