Wanted to try out a spell caster with much bigger spells and some aoes so I rolled a wizard, made her evil as a dark elf, even though being good or evil aligned as a race doesn't play much of a role in the game today.

In the lore of EQ the dark elves are an evil race and back before all the expansions you'd be killed on sight by npcs for going into good or neutral areas. Now that's changed and I'm pretty sure you're able to go where you please, I'll check that out later though, for now the newbie zones are not hostile.
