I don’t know about the statistics, but they used it to infiltrate pedo communities and Nazi groups (which I mean, are the same) - but even then there are rarely meaningful punishments when those targets are arrested. But felonies in general are attractive because they provide more leverage for cops. The FBI hired a violent felon to infiltrate and disrupt BLM during the George Floyd protests in Colorado

Maybe. But what’s anyone gonna do about it? The CIA declassifies its abuses every few decades. A couple headlines here and there. Then what? A prince is associated with a global pedophile ring and he retreats into obscurity and everyone moves on. The only people who are hurt are the victims of the abuses and infiltrations.

Also, limited hangouts mean the abusers can stoke the heinous acts themselves for people to focus on as spectacles, while the the victims and implications are ignored. The knowledge that it exists is enough for people to feel like they’ve accomplished something and move on.
