You aren't wrong, but neither am I. There are actually two different Star Trek total conversion mods for Stellaris: ST: New Horizons and Star Trek: New Civilisations. I think ST: New Horizons is a bit better, but ST: New Civilisations is newer. Either way, both are excellent Star Trek-themed mods and both are in active development.

I haven't played Stellaris in a year or two so ofc I haven't heard about civilizations yet; that aside yeah it was a baffling choice to make Infinite, especially since I'm assuming Paradox had to get licensing for it which couldn't have been cheap.
