I am in Ireland and my trade union is shit. I have been a staunch supporter all my life but I am beginning to hate unions.

The setup is archaic and overly complicated and not conducive to driving modern working condition improvements.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these sound like issues with your union, not unions in general.

To a point but it feels like there is systemic protection. For example I have tried to contact the congress of trade unions about poor representation and thet have not so much as replied back. I tried to change union and the new one said they are blocked from taking on other unions members.
