I’ve never seen an actual trans woman be creepy in a woman’s space. Hell I don’t think I’ve ever seen a trans woman in a woman’s space at all. And can you blame them when being out about it in those spaces gets you this reaction? I swear stuff like this animation keeps setting back my transition timescale. I would have used “us” to refer to trans women before seeing it or being exposed to so much transphobia but being merely exposed to it has shaken me enough to make me feel invalid again.
TERFism is such a weird brand of “women are weak and need to be pwotected 🥺” brainworms. No actually, women are more than capable of telling if a trans woman is being creepy or not independent of them being trans and reporting it, and don’t need vigilant transphobic moderation to delete all the “scawy trans people” before they actually do anything.
Even in Simone de Beauvoir's book, "The Second Sex", which is basically the foundation of feminist philosophy, explains that one is made into a woman, not born as a woman, which is the basis of the argument as to why men and women shouldn't be treated differently : " We aren't born as women, we become women" (idk how to translate this well).
Gender essentialism is completely against feminist philosophy. How can they call themselves feminists?
So ironically, their title as feminist is not valid, but your gender is 😉. Never give up!
I suppose their argument is that women are socialized into becoming women and therefore trans women or trans men are “socialized” as the gender they’re born as and not their actual gender. I’m going to call bullshit on that, though, because the way that translates into their full ideology is questionable at best.
Deconstructing the gender binary should be the ultimate goal here, because it’s rooted in patriarchy and fucked up in general. Trans liberationism does this by radically challenging the idea that gender is something inherent to anything at all. And the tip-off that these TERFs are full of absolute bullshit is that they almost always support transmeds and trans assimilationists, but never trans liberationists.
This is because they are transphobes, and are not actually motivated by feminist ideology. If they wanted to actually criticize any segment of “trans culture” from a feminist perspective they would probably just come away with the exact same take the majority of trans people who aren’t rich and don’t have the ability to afford tons of surgeries and shit have: Trans assimilationists suck ass.
The fact that their depictions of “evil trans women” are always these stereotypically “ugly”, masculine people, as if it is somehow inherently part of being evil to be “ugly”, without any introspection into how those definitions of ugliness are defined, is suspect. It is, of course, a rhetorical trick to make their transphobia clearer, as they are aware most trans women that do look like that aren’t evil perverts, but they feel fine slandering trans women like that anyways. But it still reveals their main belief: “Trans people should just be invisible and assimilate like they should have long ago.” See JK Rowling or whoever saying that the “normal trans women” are ok but not “weird trans women”, whatever that means in a cis transphobe’s deranged mind.
