Both of these things being big fourchan things for some incomprehensable reason is probably not a coincidence.
Honestly I've only ever been in the periphery of the Touhou fandom because Touhou is kind of a tough thing to really get into. I guess it doesn't surprise me that the fandom is Like That because the otaku community in general is Like That, but I just never got that impression from Touhou specifically enough to really single it out like that.
