These people are starting to make my heart ache a little. They seem so desperate and undereducated. Life must feel very frightening for them.
That heartache is easily cured. Try befriending a few.
Hah! You’re almost certainly right. I don’t know why, but this one hit different.
Honestly I assure you they are some of the nastiest people you'll ever know. They call their children their biological property.

Others have pointed out reasons to be unsympathetic to these folks but IMO that doesn't mean that they can't still be victims of the charlatans making them but into this crap. They sell this illusion for those grasping for help.
They can be victims sure, but you can't cheat an honest man.
Whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about. Maybe you can't make a cheater out of an honest man, but they can be cheated like any dishonest man can.
Nah. They're just trying to rip common folk off wherever possible. Taxes, bills, child support, insurance, etc. then counter it by trying to charge others for ludicrous reasons. They're scammers that try to evade law that doesn't suit them and enforce law that does.
This is the reality check I needed. Thanks!
