I find myself somehow having encyclopedic knowledge of punk and metal bands that are fascist, misgynist, abusers, etc, and personally, I'm able to just completely drop an artist if our politics dont align.

I'm also part of a few social media pages where people can ask and discuss about artists that have issues.

Figured maybe we could bring something like that here. What say y'all?

I guess I don't get the impulse behind such a move. Is it for fun? Is it to try to create a larger movement to divest from those artists? Is it to say that people should no longer consumer their music?

Tbh I'm always wary when there's such a negative focus on finding out if something or someone neutral/"apolitical" is problematic, and like, digging to find that. It makes the left look out-of-touch and puritanical, and keeps us distracted by unmaterialistic bullshit. Not that cancellation is never effective or helpful, but looking for problems is such a boring and tiring way to live. Would love a thread of artists that are especially based.

waow-based

Yeah I'd agree a thread of based artists is better, encourages future artists to also remain based.

The artists with negative comments will naturally die out because less people will talk about them in comparison to the based ones.

Like the theory of "stop giving serial killers cool names, call them something silly and defaming"
