The mystery of “infantile amnesia” suggests memory works differently in the developing brain

My memory is terrible, I have trouble with long-term memory. I have a few memories of when I was younger than 5. One of them I believe was from when I was still in the crib(definitely less than 2), but I have no means to verify it as a genuine memory or a false memory. I think it was suppressed for years until I unintentionally unlocked it. I can "remember" the picture of the room in the direction I was looking, vague knowledge of what was happening, and memory of the feelings I had at the time. I feel it was an important part of my life that, for better or worse, that has had an effect on who I am and has shaped my relationship with my parents. It is my earliest memory and it haunts me, persisting like a scar on my self. I would give anything to forget it or to confirm it as false.
