Instead of crying about him saying bloodbath for two days (but reiterating they won't do anything to beat him electorally) he's gotten days of free press and he gets to act like a tough guy.

If the universal response had been "what're you going to do get your supporters to smear shit on the wall then go home while you watch it on tv?" They'd actually put him on the backfoot.
