I thought the reference humor was as good, if not better than, south park's.
Personall viewpoint: All references were generalized enough that I didn't end up understanding all of them despite having a pretty distanced approach to current news. Like, of the few that I didn't recognize immediately, I understood just using the next couple minutes of context. With southpark, at least one episode a season I would have to look up because it was either too specific of a take on something, or just about an event that I had not heard of. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
And, its got a female lead, who's love life is only given 1 episode. Which like, makes it the best anyways lol
