THANK YOU fuck I’ve felt like I’m going crazy for years when people are like “Well the cost to make games has gone up and inflation and games have cost $60 for a long time now”
NO. The MSRP of AAA games should have gone down significantly, not up. Selling something for half as much makes sense when you’re selling 20 times more of it. The tools to make games are cheaper than ever and those tools have made productivity shoot up. It takes less labor hours to make the same product as 10 years ago today, and you can sell that product to 20 times more people with now nearly 0 cost per person because most sales are digital now.
