Are women not allowed to compete in F1?
It's been a long time since any have been good enough. Katherine Legge and Danica Patrick might have been good enough for a back marker seat 20 years ago.
The only things stopping a woman from driving in F1 are money and talent.
It comes down to the talent pool and its size. There are not enough female racing drivers yet.
Need more young girls/women in karting/feeder series. Unfortunately, that likely won't happen until a talented woman "makes it" into f1.
For years, people have been pinning hopes on different upcoming drivers to be the one.
Its probably going to take a talented woman who is capable of beating more than half the field of men before they get a chance, unfortunately. Rather than just being better than a few of the current drivers, which is unfair.
Also physical difference between men and woman play a big role in it. F1 is a very physical demanding sports.
It's not so much about the g forces but rather about things like steering wheel sizes and other factors that make it difficult with the physical differences.
yeah absolutely. Steering wheel handling for such a extended period. As a difference their are more woman going to a space station which frankly takes a lot of Gs as well. Then their are woman in F1
Have you seen the size of Yuki Tsunoda?
Heโs 5โ2 (1.59m)
Give more girls and women opportunities to break into the sport, youโll eventually have the Katie Ledecky of F1.
(Katie Ledecky is the most decorated competitive woman swimmer in the world. 5โ11/1.8m)
Smaller size will actually be an advantage to women (and yuki ;) ), as I hear it can get quite cramped in an F1 car. Where they will probably have a disadvantage is lower testosterone levels, resulting in less muscle build-up. That might prove problematic in the physically more demanding tracks like this weekends'.
(although I think smaller talent pool due to lacking money/opportunities is the most limiting factor for women in F1 right now)
I disagree.
For formula sports we need to look at in a combined pool. There is no need to have groups that preference selection, do to lack of talent or size.
When it comes to who is selected for a formula serie, no one is selected if they can only beat few of the drivers.
