Honestly, if politicians would go back to shooting each other over matters of honor, life would at least be more entertaining

On a pragmatic level, the GOP should welcome having a second viable candidate just because it allows the machine to have a chance of not imploding if Trump has a campaign-ending health crisis, wether it's lead or cholesterol. Even if she has one delegate, then they can say "we have an established process and can use it to select a candidate" and avoid tearing the place apart on live TV.

The GOP's full cult turn must be incredibly frustrating to people who had long-term ambitions. The guy who's a first-term state house rep hoping to get to Congress or Governor one day-- what is there in the party that's not being unbolted to throw on the altar of Trump? Will the brand have any value left after 2024? Will they even have the raw mechanics left if they've ripped out their staff and organization?
