Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.

As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.

Thank you and happy chatting!

Yes. It's not a big deal tbh. I don't notice it at all unless I haven't worn it for a few days and my teeth shift and it hurts a little. Some days I even forget I'm wearing them until I start talking and have a lisp or attempt to bite something. I think I grind my teeth judging by the cracks on certain areas on the retainer and based on my fucked up dreams. But my teeth don't hurt, and I'm guessing it's because I'm really grinding my retainers and not my teeth.

The controversial alternative is "mewing." The guy behind it is likely a quack with what he claims are health benefits. But the procedure is non invasive and virtually harmless. You just keep your mouth close and keep your tongue on the roof of your mouth. This is supposed to "permanently" keep your teeth in place (or at least be a free alternative to retainers). If you're in your teens, it may give you a gigachad jaw and cheeks. Doesn't hurt to try.
